Leadership Appointed for River Gee Vocational Institute to Boost Liberia’s Technical Education

In a significant move to enhance technical and vocational education in Liberia, President George Manneh Weah has appointed an eleven-member Board of Trustees for the River Gee County Vocational and Technical Training Institute. (President Weah, 2022). The decision, announced on October 13, 2022, aligns with Article VI, Section 1 of the Act establishing the institution.

The appointed board members are:

• Mr. Moses S. Geeplay – Chairman

• Mr. Christian S. Chea – Co-Chairman

• Mrs. Regina Vinton

• Mr. Shadrach Teah

• Mr. Williams Quaye

• Mr. Chowolo Dickson

• Madam Phebe Botiah

• Mr. George Kayee

• Mr. S. Tayee Toe

• Mr. Chea Cheapo, Jr.

• Mr. Babbi Geeplay

The buildings groundbreaking occurred in 2019. According to the Zawya news press release, President Weah has currently tasked the newly appointed board with initiating the formation process of the institute, emphasizing the government’s commitment to advancing vocational education in River Gee County.

This initiative reflects the administration’s dedication to equipping Liberians with practical skills and knowledge, fostering economic growth, and reducing unemployment through quality vocational training.
